This is my friend Cathy. Those who know her,  know what an incredible person she is. Cathy’s a wonderful nurse, mother, wife, friend. She’s such a positive, uplifting person to be around and beautiful…inside and out. Cathy was diagnosed with breast cancer last year.  She describes the past year as a journey - a journey that has made her a stronger person. She just recently completed all of her chemo and  wanted to document and celebrate this with a photo session (it was also a surprise Valentine’s gift for her husband).

When I look at Cathy’s photos I see strength, I see confidence, I see beauty.

I’m headed out this morning to spend two weeks at the cottage. This is our home away from home and I must say our favourite place in the whole wide world! This is the view from our dock….how cool is that? One of my favourite things to do is kayak in the evening as the sun begins to set….it doesn’t get any better than this.

We don’t have internet up at the cottage but I’ll still be able to access emails through my blackberry.

I’m expecting a few babies to be born while I’m gone. Moms and Dads - if you’re reading this I can photograph your new additions on July 13 or 14 (that is if they’re born by then!).

I was really looking forward to meeting this couple. Stacey and I have been corresponding via email for months and it wasn’t until the engagement session that we met for the first time.  We had to cancel their session twice - once due to scheduling and then due to rain. Third times a charm - right?  Stacey and Todd live in Couborg and so, with a 3 hour drive ahead of them - we decided - rain or shine we were finally doing these engagement photos!

It was immediately apparent that Stacey and I have very similar tastes. I *loved* all of the clothes she brought for the sesson and after she took a peak around our house, she couldn’t believe how similar our decorating tastes were.  So, it was no wonder she was drawn to my photography style!

Meet Stacey and Todd - a fun, easy going, incredible couple:

Todd doesn’t think he’s photogenic and wished me luck getting a good picture of him. Really….really…..I beg to differ.

They were both up to  anything and Stacey didn’t even question me when I asked her to get into a shopping cart that I spotted!

Stacey and Todd - I feel honoured that you’ve choosen me as your photographer. You are such an INCREDIBLE couple and I cannot wait for the wedding which I know is going to be just fabulous!

This was Julianne’s 3rd and final session with me as part of her baby plan. I first photographed her as a tiny newborn and now she’s this beautiful little girl with tons of energy. Julianne is at a stage where she likes sticking her tongue out, actually, she likes to just have it tangle out of her mouth. I was excited when I realized I had quite a few of her without her tongue out. Although she looks totally adorable with her tongue sticking out - I didn’t think mom would want 20 photos of her like this!

My son Mackenzie came up to me a few weeks ago with an issue he had. He apparently went through my blog and counted the number of photos of him compared to those of Alex! He actually had the exact number, I can’t remember what it was, but it was quite obvious that there were more photos of Alex on my blog than him. Kids love making their parents feel guilty don’t they? Well, I explained to Mackenzie that if only he would let me take his photo - I would have more of him to post!! He’s always been a tough one to photograph and pretty much runs when he sees the camera……except for recent. Mackenzie actually wanted me to take his photo!

With the busy season wrapping up, I took the opportunity today to take some photos of Mackenzie. OMG…..I’m in love with them. How cute is he? He  loosened up and forgot about the camera and I was actually able to capture “Mackenzie”. Christmas has come early for me! Thanks Mack.

I had the honour of photographing the Welland firefighers once again for their calendar.  I had so many volunteers wanting to help me out during the sessions….mmmm…I wonder why? These guys were great sports. Come out and support them at the kick-off event. If you can’t make it - be sure to buy a calendar! The last calendar raised over $13,000 for three different charities. This year, all proceeds will be donated to the Welland Hospital Foundation - E.R. Department.
