Goodbye Summer | niagara photographer

Wow….that went by quick! I had such an INCREDIBLE summer filled with family, friends, food and fun. I tried to spend as much time as possible at our cottage up north. I would spend two weeks up north and then come home for a week where I would jam pack in ordering and photo sessions. It was the best of both worlds….how I wish our summers weren’t so short I am going to miss the northern fresh air, the sunsets, the boat trips, kayaking, watching the kids wakeboard and most of all the laughter with family and friends. I feel truly blessed.

I haven’t blogged much this summer – have I? I’m going to try to post some of my favourite sessions over the next few weeks. For those of you looking for fall sessions – please contact me soon as I only have a few openings left!

Back from WPPI | niagara photographers

I attended the WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Photographers International) Convention in Las Vegas last week. It was my third time attending and I must say that I come home completely inspired every time. I loved listening in on the print competition, attending the platform classes and browsing through the tradeshow – which is always my favourite part. Touching and seeing products in person is soooo much better than online. I’m always on the look out for quality, cutting edge products and WPPI is certainly the place to find them. I am VERY excited about some new, unique products I will be offering very soon! Once I receive my samples – I will definitely share. Keep an eye on the blog….these products are soooo cool.

What’s a blog post without a photo? I have to admit that the highlight of my trip was seeing Nigel Barker from America’s Next Top Model up close and personal! I have a not-so-secret crush on him (don’t worry…hubby knows!). I only brought along my point and shoot camera, but the kind photographer standing next to me was nice enough to send me one of his images from his DSLR. Let’s just say he was quick to notice my excitement! Thank-you Henry for this image!

I photographed Lily and Ryder years ago….love watching my little clients grow! They came back with their cousins for a portrait….yes, the impossibles shot of four children between the ages of 10 months and 4! To add to this already difficult task – it was unseasonably cool on this day and windy!. All things considered – these little ones did pretty well!

Love this sibling shot sooo much!!!

Lily just wasn’t herself on this day and had no interest in being photographed. I told mom I wasn’t going to let her win! Love this photo of her!

Seriously…too cute for words!

This is my friend Cathy. Those who know her, know what an incredible person she is. Cathy’s a wonderful nurse, mother, wife, friend. She’s such a positive, uplifting person to be around and beautiful…inside and out. Cathy was diagnosed with breast cancer last year. She describes the past year as a journey – a journey that has made her a stronger person. She just recently completed all of her chemo and wanted to document and celebrate this with a photo session (it was also a surprise Valentine’s gift for her husband).

When I look at Cathy’s photos I see strength, I see confidence, I see beauty.

Cathy – you are such an incredible, strong person…..love you!

Merry Christmas | niagara photographers

It’s Christmas Eve…my family’s favourite day of the entire year. We have a wonderful tradition. My sister’s family and my parents always sleep over at our house Christmas Eve. It all begins with an incredible meal including calamari, pasta with clams, shrimp, seafood pasta, stuffed mushrooms and much, much more. It’s truly a meal we all look forward to all year round! We open up gifts after midnight and usually end up watching a movie that the kid’s received for Christmas. On Christmas Day we attend mass and then gather at my sister’s house for yet again another incredible meal!

To all of my clients and friends, I wish you a wonderful Christmas filled with family, tradition and love.

The studio is now closed for the holidays – reopening January 4th.

Joanne and Bryan have a cottage on Lake Erie, so it only made sense to take their engagement photos there. Not only a perfect spot…but full of meaning. We started off taking photos on their swing….so perfect.

I photographed Brynn just this past summer. I’m so glad Mom and Dad decided to drive back down to Niagara for a family session. Fall is such a beautiful time for photos – don’t you just love the colours!?

Don’t you just love his name? Elliot was a happy, busy boy during the session. What else would you expect from a two year old!Balls Falls was the perfect location – I just snapped away while Elliot explored. I don’t think he even realized it was a photo shoot!

Sunset Tutu | Niagara Photographers

I can’t believe summer is over! I was going through my summer photos from the cottage and had to share these. I had this photo in my head since last summer and finally managed to take it this year.

It wasn’t the easiest to get. First, we needed a beautiful sunset and considering the number of rainy days we had, our days were limited. Secondly, I needed a willing model (the problem was So You Think You Can Dance was always on when we had a sunset and Alex didn’t want to miss it. O.k. – I didn’t want to miss it either). And thirdly, I needed a co-pilot to steer the paddle boat!

We took the paddle boat out to a small rock island near the cottage. The water was really rough, so Mackenzie, my co-pilot, had a hard time keeping the paddle boat in position while I tried to take the photos. It was completely worth it though, because I *love* these images! Now which do I enlarge?
